James has been a practicing member of the Florida Bar since graduating from the University of Florida College of Law in 1998. He is a former Assistant State Attorney with an outstanding record representing the state of Florida in many jury and bench trials.
In 2002, James moved from the State Attorney's Office to the law firm of Gobelman Love Gavin Blazs and Mathis. As an associate at Gobelman Love, James represented physicians in medical malpractice litigation, and he continues to practice medical malpractice defense. James left Gobelman Love in 2005 to join Kelly Mathis, and in 2007, they formed the law firm of Mathis & Murphy, P.A.
Since 2005, James expanded his practice beyond litigation to become general counsel for multiple small and medium businesses throughout Florida. The businesses he represents range from one to 150 employees. His extensive litigation experience helps him draft agreements that avoid costly contract disputes and limit his business clients' future liability and legal expenses.
